Why is Qadiyaniat considered controversial in Islam?

Qadiyaniat is controversial primarily due to its rejection of the finality of prophethood—a central doctrine in Islam. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s proclamations that he received divine revelation and prophetic status are seen by many as challenging the unique position of Muhammad ﷺ, thus leading mainstream scholars to label these views as heretical.

Beyond theological differences, Qadiyaniat’s claims also carry socio-political implications. In countries like Pakistan, followers of these beliefs have historically faced legal, social, and institutional exclusion, as the state and religious authorities formalized legislation declaring them non-Muslims.

The controversy is deepened by the fact that certain Qadiani doctrines actively classify non-Ahmadi Muslims as outside the fold of Islam, intensifying theological, communal, and legal tensions across Muslim societies.
