Buy Kevlar Jeans !LINK!

While proven to be a very accurate analogue for chip-seal, or surface-dressed roads, this coarse belt is too abrasive for many garments, but when we had a pair of AAA-rated lined jeans, a pair of AAA-rated single-layer jeans and a sample of quality leather tested by an independent notified body (testing company), the differences were clear. The lined jeans (and these were not the most abrasion-resistant on the market by any stretch), gave a relative abrasion time of more than double that of the single-layer. The leather gave slightly more than the lined jeans.

Single layer motorcycle jeans tend to be made of denim (cotton) with a tougher material woven in, but there has been an increase in jeans that have a denim look, while being made entirely of man-made fibres.

Let me go back a while; perhaps 25 years ago. I remember buying my first pair of protective jeans from America. I was very excited about them; nobody I knew wore jeans on their bike. I thought that I looked really cool in them. Looking back, I now realise they were hideous. They lining was so thick and heavy I had to wear braces to keep them up.

Obviously not all lined jeans record such impressive times. It depends on the nature of the lining material but, importantly, you need to be mindful that some lined jeans are very sparsely lined. On many occasions in the past, we have simply refused to sell a lined jean because there was only a tiny slither of the lining in the bum. The only way you can ever tell how much protection a lined jean offers is to turn the jeans inside out, and see how far the lining goes.

But there is another player in the single-layer market, the Italian brand PMJ. PMJ has developed an aramid fibre-based weave that is called Twaron. The company produce many lined jeans, but also a couple of single-layer jeans, the most impressive of which is called the Tex-Pro. The jean is incredibly light, yet attains the highest AAA rating under EN17092. They record a slide time under EN13595 of over four seconds. They are lovely to wear, and are more than reasonably priced.

Although Kevlar is slightly tougher than Aramid, at LDMotorcycles.co.uk we provide both types as the differences are minimal and for low-mid speed town riding which is where we use jeans and hoodies, it would be hard to notice the difference if you did have a slide.

LiningNow that you know the lining materials in motorbike jeans. We need to point out that not all jeans are built equally. Some jeans are fully lined and some only included linings on the main at-risk areas. Around the knees, hips and buttocks.

ArmourWe mentioned this before but not all motorcycle jeans include armour so always look out for that when shopping. All of our range of jeans at LDMotorcycles.co.uk come with CE certified knee armour inserts as standard. You should expect that anywhere else you decide to shop. However, you will usually find that hip armour is generally sold separately.

Inside all good biker jeans are securely stitched pockets allowing you to slide in your armour panels. With the option to close it up with velcro to stop it moving while you ride or slide. But not all jeans have hip armour pockets stitched in.

Every person has a slightly different size and shape, as well as their own idea of how a great pair of jeans should fit and feel. In addition, there are those riders who choose to make a fashion statement with a certain shade of blue or even a completely different color.

The level of protection for a pair of riding jeans is a very personal decision. There are some riders who just want that extra layer of Kevlar in case they go down, while others want the entire complement of safety gear including hip and knee armor.

Our riding jeans evaluations address the durability, function, and overall safety features of the jeans. Knowing that critical information, riders can then apply their personal taste in cut, fit, and fashion statement to select the best riding jeans to meet their own needs.

Newly released for the 2021 riding season, the 267 jeans use a brand new blended fabric that includes super-strong Dyneema. This produces a lightweight, but extremely durable, slim-fit riding jean that also incorporates SAS-TEC CE level II armor in the knees.

The updated Rokker Revolution II AAA waterproof jeans look like a normal pair of jeans while adding AAA protection and single layer woven denim for abrasion resistance. While still resembling normal jeans, they are windproof, waterproof, and breathable for any season.

The Spidi J-Dyneema Jeans are a slim-fitting option with a little stretch for comfort. They are made with a single layer, Dyneema cotton blend for abrasion resistance and are a slim-fitting pair of riding jeans in the upper price range to reap the benefits of a higher quality product. These pants come with both knee and hip armor.

When most people think about riding a motorcycle, there are three very distinct images that come to mind. They picture the bike, the leather jacket, and the blue jeans that seem to work together like a BLT. Each one is good on its own, but together they make the perfect combination.

But unfortunately, unless a rider is wearing purpose-built riding jeans, then there is the potential for some unavoidable but really horrific injuries. And sadly, that statement is coming from someone who believes that jeans are pretty much the most perfect piece of clothing that can be worn in just about any place that is worth going.

Fortunately, gear manufacturers saw that the many, many die-hard jeans wearers were not going to be converted to other textile pants or leather either. The solution was simply to provide a durable, comfortable, and casual looking pair of jeans that riders could embrace and enjoy.

The benefit for riders is that the riding jeans are made but the same companies that make the textile and leather pants and they include the same impact and abrasion protection as the other styles of riding pants. So riders can look great in jeans, be comfortabl,e and also know that they have the needed protection in the event of an accident.

Up until the mid 2000s, motorcycle riders were scooting around on their motorcycles wearing street jeans because the alternative as street-riding attire typically consisted of bulky, clumsy, ugly motorcycle pants.

But fabric technology and innovation derived from professional racing finally caught up to our industry, and a plethora of companies started putting out high-quality protective motorcycle jeans that lacked the cosmonaut allure of preceding street-riding apparel.

Then, in the 2010s, motorcycle jeans exploded in popularity and more companies joined in so as to satisfy the growing demand from motorcyclists worldwide, which thus resulted in a superb variety of riding jeans that looked like regular denim jeans and which were capable of astonishing levels of rider protection.

Consequently, motorcycle jeans incorporate all the amenities of street jeans in the likes of front and rear storage pockets, belt loops, fly zippers, the characteristic denim aesthetic and even a myriad of tapering options (e.g. slim fit, skinny fit, boot cut, wide fit, etc).

Regular jeans also have no provisions for armor, and the knees as well as the hips are common impact zones in a motorcycle crash, which is why good motorcycle jeans integrate inner pockets in the lining so as to insert knee and hip armor.

But, for any other riding tasks, only a set of top motorcycle jeans will withstand the tremendous grinding, slashing and impacting involved in a motorcycle accident at speeds surpassing 30 miles per hour.

The heavy-duty denim of the illustrated Kevlar riding jeans burst instantly upon exposure to the grinding asphalt and was then abraded extensively, yet the Kevlar lining (i.e. the visible yellow-colored lining under the burst denim) withstood the sustained abrasive energy flawlessly as the rider was sliding on asphalt; the rider was unharmed with zero road rash.

Usually, Kevlar is implemented as paneling that lines the underside of the outer denim chassis of motorcycle jeans; thus, when the outer denim fabric bursts in an off, the Kevlar fabric takes over to withstand the abrasive forces of a slide or tumble on pavement.

Motorcycle jeans can be partially lined or fully lined with Kevlar paneling. The difference between partially-lined motorcycle jeans and fully-lined motorcycle jeans is that partially-lined motorcycle jeans only include Kevlar paneling in specific areas of the lower body like the buttocks, outer laterals of the thighs and knees. 041b061a72
